DEUTSCH: Das höchstaufgelöste Bildmosaik vom ersten ungezielten Vorbeiflug an Dione (00bDI) am 14./15. Dezember 2004 zeigt weite Teile der Heckseite mit den sogenannten "Wispy streaks". Die Bilder zeigten erstmals, dass diese in Voyageraufnahmen entdeckten Streifenstrukturen tektonischen Ursprungs sind. Wegen eines Problems mit den Datenrekordern konnten nicht alle Aufnahmen gespeichert werden. Die Bildauflösung beträgt 440 m/pxl.
ENGLISH: The mosaic with the best resolved images from the non-targeted flyby 00bDI on 14/15 Dec 2004 shows wide parts of the so-called "wispy streaks" which are located on the trailing side. Originally, the "wispy streaks" were detected in Voyager 1 data. These Cassini images now clearly show for the first time that this type of surface features was formed by tectonic activity and is correlated with bright cliffs. Due to a problem with the solid state recorders, parts of the planned images have not been recorded, and the mosaic is incomplete. The spatial resolution is 440 m/pxl. |
